New Details: Parent Throws Bleach In Face Of Elderly School Bus Driver In Charlotte
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools officials confirm that an elderly school bus driver was assaulted early Tuesday when an irate parent threw bleach in her face. She told her story to a local television station after she was released from the hospital.
“I couldn’t see; there were no thoughts,” the driver told WJZY-TV. “I was just shocked this actually happened.” The 72-year-old driver was not identified out of fear for her safety. In the interview late Tuesday, she said her vision was still blurry.
It happened on Central Avenue near Lansdale Drive around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday. There were nine children on board the bus at the time of the incident. They were headed to Winterfield Elementary School. The parent who threw the bleach apparently has two children that ride the bus.
At the time of this post, no arrests have been made. It is likely the parent will face a charge of simple assault.
