This is North Carolina and South Carolina’s Biggest Superstition
These past few weekends, my family and I have been building a fire in the fireplace and picking out a scary movie to watch. ‘Tis the season for all things spooky. Our personal favorite is Alien by the way. And along with spooky things are superstitions! What are residents in North Carolina and South Carolina most superstitious about? It turns out, it is the same thing.
There are all kinds of weird superstitions like, walking under a ladder or salt spilling or raising up an umbrella inside the house. None of these made the list for the thing that we Carolina folks are the most superstitious about.
A lot of people are superstitious! According to the Potawatomi Hotel and Casino, 83 percent of people believe in good luck and 50 percent believe in bad. The thing that people are most superstitious about in North Carolina and South Carolina is a black cat crossing our path. I have to admit that when this happens I (and this is gross) wet my finger and mark an x in the corner of my windshield. I don’t know why, I have always heard that this negates the black cat crossing. Get details on the biggest superstitions in each state, get details here.
