“Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan” Finally Returns For Season Three
“Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan” is an itch I’ve been dying to scratch. It’s been three years since the second season debuted on Amazon Prime, and I’ve been chomping at the bit ever since. On my list of all-time favorite shows, “24” and “Homeland” are both in the top 5 (“24” is number one). There’s been nothing close to those in terms of action and intrigue before this. And at first, I was skeptical. First, the character of “Jack Ryan” had already been portrayed to perfection by Harrison Ford in the movies “Patriot Games” and “Clear and Present Danger.” I mean NO ONE plays the “ordinary man thrust into extraordinary circumstances” persona like Ford. It’s his jam. At least I thought no one did. John Krasinski played “Jim Halpert” on “The Office.” No way should he be this good at action/adventure. However, this is what make him perfect. Krasinski IS the everyman. Last season saw “Jack Ryan” uncovering corruption between US officials and sketch Central American politicians. And now?
According to Amazon, “In the third season of the action-thriller series, Jack Ryan is working as a CIA case officer in Rome, when he is tipped off that the Sokol Project, a secret plan to restore the Soviet Empire, is being resurrected more than 50 years after it was thought to have been shut down. Jack embarks on a mission to confirm the intelligence, but things quickly go awry, and he is wrongly implicated in a larger conspiracy. Accused of treason, with a Red Notice out for his arrest, Jack is forced to run from his own government, if he has any hope of uncovering the rogue faction before it’s too late. Crisscrossing Europe as he is hunted by former allies and new enemies alike, Jack races against the clock to stop the cascade of destabilizing conflicts from leading to global catastrophe.” Season Three of “TCJY” bows on Amazon Prime December 21. Which means I’ll be bingeing for Christmas!
