There’s A 40-Foot-Tall Leg Lamp Statue In Oklahoma
There’s a sequel that’s coming out in the next couple of weeks on HBO Max to the holiday classic, “A Christmas Story.” We’ve discussed this before. Of all the Christmas movies out there, this one has never been our jam. Christmas movies are truly a subjective lot. What appeals to one, doesn’t necessarily appeal to another. That being said, there’s no denying the societal impact of “A Christmas Story.” Even if you don’t know the film, you know about the scene with the tongue and the steel post. And you definitely know about “the leg lamp.”
Well, if you think having this delivered to your house would be a surprise, imagine if you’re a resident of Chickasha, Oklahoma, and you drive through town one morning only to discover a 40-foot-tall version has apparently been delivered to your town! Yup, that’s the way this Okie town rolls with its Yuletide celebrations. The leg lamp is a dead ringer for the one in ”A Christmas Story”.
How great is this?! If you happen to be anywhere NEAR Oklahoma City in the next couple of months, a trip 40 miles southwest to Chickasha would be worth it for this! I guess once you get there, you can’t miss it. The enormous leg lamp is located in a downtown park and sits on top of a 10 ft crate. It is made out of fiberglass and is now a permanent fixture in the city. Wait. What? So, the leg lamp is gonna be there 24/7, 365? Wow. This is a must see. Speaking of “must see,” “A Christmas Story Christmas” debuts on HBO Max November 17th.
