Health Advisory Issued For A Lake Wylie, South Carolina Cove
The South Carolina Department of Public Health and Environmental Control is warning the public of a potentially harmful toxic algae bloom in a Tega Cay cove on Lake Wylie. Will this affect open water in the lake?
According to the Charlotte Observer, a resident notified the South Carolina Department of Public Health and Environmental Control and tests showed what is commonly known as blue green algae. An advisory has been issued. As of right now the algae is just in the cove and has not affected open water.
The cove is located at Nivens Landing Drive and McHanna Point. Blooms can increase with warmer temperatures and are also harmful to pets. To learn more, get details here.
