There are some headlines that are more eye-catching and stunning than others.  ANY headline that claims ANYONE in the Democratic party says ANYTHING positive about former President Trump, has to be clickbait, right?  Okay, I’ll bite.  No, not clickbait.  Democratic Virginia Senator Mark Warner is the chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee.  Quick lesson, this committee is dedicated to overseeing the United States Intelligence Community—the agencies and bureaus of the federal government of the United States that provide information and analysis for leaders of the executive and legislative branches. The Committee was established in 1976 by the 94th Congress.  Okay, back to the story.  In 2020, President Trump proclaimed that TikTok was a threat to national security.  Well, of course his opinion was poo-pooed by the opposition (Democrats) as ludicrous.  Now?

If you’re wondering why President Trump would come to this conclusion, TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, is connected to the Chinese Communist Party. Also, it is NO SECRET that TikTok well-known for being essentially sophisticated spyware that gleans a stunning amount of data on its users.  Truth be told, our government considered banning the social media platform two years ago in the wake of the President’s assertion that it was indeed a threat to national security. Ultimately, we stopped short of a ban, but the Trump Administration DID issue restrictions on TikTok. President Joe Biden reversed them.

Senator Warner was on Fox News this weekend and verified the following statement to Shannon Bream.  “As painful as it is for me to say, if Donald Trump was right and we could’ve taken action then, that’d have been a heck of a lot easier than trying to take action in November of 2022.  The sooner we bite the bullet, the better.”

This leads me to a bigger problem.  Is it just me or does it seem our system of government is now based on spite rather than what’s best for the people?  By that I mean BOTH PARTIES, whoever is in power, seems more consumed with undoing what was done before (regardless of if it was wrong or right) that doing what is best for us, the people who they govern.  There’s no way we can move forward as a nation while we’re stuck in this cycle.
