Charlotte Pair Competes On Peacock’s “Baking It”
A Charlotte pair competes on “Baking It” December 12. And, we can watch on NBC’s streaming platform Peacock. According to The Charlotte Observer, the baking twosome of Kandyy and Sevn moved to Charlotte four years ago with just $800 between them. Sevn started “The Cake Florist” in 2020 using just $25 spent at WalMart. However, Sevn originally wanted to look into a career in cosmetology, leading her to a school in Charlotte. Kandyy earned money through photography and odd jobs. And, while Sevn pursued a future as a makeup artist, it turned out she really didn’t like it. So, in 2020 she turned to baking. Sevn made a cupcake recipe and found her true passion. She says her fateful trip to Walmart started with “strawberries, some chocolate, some little sprinkle glitter things, some flowers and sugar.” Of course, her creativity from her makeup studies helped when it came to decorating the baked goods.
On the other hand, Kandyy didn’t consider herself a baker. She jokes about being “forced” into it by Sevn. But, since the show is hosted by funny ladies Maya Rudolph and Amy Poehler, comedic moments will most likely serve them well. The show is a spin-off of an NBC craft competition called “Making It” that no longer airs. Four actual grandmothers sit on the panel of judges. And, the icing on the cake is the grand prize of $50,000. Mark Monday, December 12 for viewing. WCNC 36 in Charlotte airs the celebrity version at 10 p.m. Simultaneously, Peacock makes available five episodes featuring eight “regular people” teams competing. And, that is where the Charlotte pair competes. The invitation to be on “Baking It” began through social media contact. Then, next thing they knew, they caught their first flight ever to California. We’ll be watching!
Every North Carolina Restaurant on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives
This article was updated in April 2024 to show only restaurants that were still open at the time of the update. Any restaurants that unfortunately closed down at the time the original list was shared, we have since removed to make this an easier reading experience.
Being born and raised in North Carolina, sometimes you forget just how good the food is. Or maybe you’re like me and you fall into the routine of frequenting your favorite restaurants time and time again versus going out and trying something new. In Raleigh, I never heard much of Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives but after reviewing this list, I now know why! Most of the North Carolina restaurants featured on this show are located here in Charlotte or by the beach! Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives is hosted by Guy Fieri on the Food Network and food lovers would probably argue that it is one of Food Network’s better shows. It seems like Guy Fieri really enjoys Charlotte because a lot of the following restaurants are right here in Charlotte, North Carolina!
After going to FlavortownUSA.com, I found a list of every single restaurant in North Carolina featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. There are a few that were featured at one point but are no longer open.
These are the ones that are no longer open:
- Brine & Bottle (Nags Head, NC)
- Penguin Drive-In (Charlotte, NC)
All I know is that after this list, I’m starving! Check out the list of every restaurant that was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives and are clearly, Guy Fieri approved! Which spot are you heading to first? I will meet (or beat) you there!
