I love Christmas and one of the things I look forward to every year is my Christmas tree. This is our favorite Christmas tree farm in York County, South Carolina.
I do admire trees of all kinds but last year my husband had the bright idea we would have an artificial tree. For some, those are perfect! But for me, it just didn’t provide the same sense of Christmas tree joy. So, what to do and where to go. I wanted a live tree from a Christmas tree farm and I wanted to buy local. I asked my friends on social media that live in York County, where is the best Christmas tree farm.
Overwhelmingly, my survey of thousands of people indicated that Penland Christmas Tree Farm is the top choice for most. This is a family owned business that has been in business since 1966. It is a choose and cut farm and looks wonderful! Problem is, it looks like many of their trees are sold out. These are great people and from what I understand they are even my neighbors.
Another great contender is Peach Tree Orchards. Another great family owned place and we have even purchased a tree here before. They are excellent.
The one we chose is Lutz Christmas Tree Farm. It is owned by Jamie and Brian Lutz and it is their 13th year in business. They purchased the land and considered a pecan tree grove but felt led to go with Christmas trees. We had an excellent experience from this family. We drove up, they immediately welcomed us and told us a little bit about the process. There were still plenty of trees available and we found the perfect one for us and at a great price. We found a beautiful 9 ft tree for $40. A variety of trees, local and price is what drew us in and meeting the great family was the cherry on top.
