There are two things I love to do, not just in the summer, but year-round:  go to the beach and play golf.  So, if there's a way to combine these two passions... I mean if you can play cornhole, football, and whatever else I see down at the dirty Myrtle, why not golf?  I've said many times in life we are all just a really dumb idea away from fortune and glory.  And by dumb, I don't necessarily mean stupid as much as simple.  For example, "Beach Putt."

A couple of years ago, Charlotte's Anthony Garofalo was on a beach trip with his family on The Isle of Palms near Charleston.  While on the beach, randomly, as if summoned by the gods, a golf ball emerged from his wife's beach bag and started rolling on the packed sand like a manicured green at Quail Hollow Club.  Then, that proverbial, cartoon lightbulb appeared above Garofalo's head, "Man that's like a fast green for putting.  I wonder if I could turn the beach into a putting green."  Through trial and error and prototyping, Anthony Garofalo finally hit upon the magic sauce and "Beach Putt" became a business thing this past summer.  And the possibilities for this are endless.  You can make chipping games, putting games, multiple hole setups.  Basically, as I'm sitting here the two things that are going through my head are:  1.  WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THIS and 2.  If I don't make another purchase for summer, I'm making this one.  Guys, think about it.  You're wife can't gripe about you playing golf on the family beach trip if you're actually playing golf on the beach, right?
