Yellowstone’s “1923” Getting Additional Episodes
I’ve written here before about how I realize I’m late to the party on “Yellowstone,” but now I’m dancing on the bar. As I began my weight loss journey last summer, each day on the elliptical, I would consume an episode. After working my way through the first four seasons, I fell in love with the prequel, limited series, “1883.” Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Sam Elliot, and the rest of the cast of that made magic.
So, when it was announced that the Yellowstone prequel days would continue with “1923,” I was all in-especially when the cast includes the likes of Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren. Are you kidding me? There’s now way it could not be great. And I was right, we’re now four episodes in. Like “1883,” “1923” has been on kind of a slow burn, building drama and introducing characters, and now the show is REALLY starting to take off.
“1883” has ten episodes. I just assumed that “1923” would have about the same and would wrap up its run in early March. WRONG. According to a Wall Street Journal story published on Saturday, Paramount+ is producing eight more episodes on top of an originally planned eight. Filming is set for this spring. There is no word on when these new shows will air (I’m assuming around this time next year). Also, what does this mean for the next prequel series rumored to take place in the 1940s or 1960s? Who knows? Who cares? Just keep these tales of the Dutton family and the Yellowstone Ranch coming!
