A North Carolina Man Stole A Tractor Leading To Police Chase
You often hear crazy news stories out of Florida and think “of course it’s Florida”. But this one is classic NC. Only in North Carolina would you see a tractor chase instead of a car chase. According to WCNC, Boone Police have taken a tractor thief into custody. The North Carolina man stole a tractor, then led police on a chase. The police department got a call on Tuesday that a tractor was being “driven erratically” and that the driver was trying to hit pedestrians and had already hit a vehicle. If he’d just driven carefully it wouldn’t have been out of the ordinary. The stolen tractor was being driven by Ronnie Hicks.
As the tractor was heading in the direction of oncoming traffic, police attempted to stop Hicks using stop sticks and spike strips. That method failed, so authorities turned to plan b. Police were then able to shoot out one of the tires. Hicks then got off the tractor, wielding a knife. A Boone Police officer used a stun gun on Hicks and took him into custody.
Police said there were no injuries throughout the incident. Still, this is the most North Carolina thing ever- a man on a stolen tractor fleeing and leading police on a chase. Read the description of the event from the Boone Police below.
