Bears Spend Season Playing On North Carolina Swing Set
My son spent this summer working in the golf shop at Grandfather Mountain Golf & Country Club. This is located in the heart of Sugar Mountain skiing country. In the winter, it is a snowy playground for winter sports enthusiasts. In the summer, the climate is amazing (I visited in August and the high temp was 72 degrees). However, I had one concern: bears. Don’t get me wrong, I love bears. I graduated from Baylor University (mascot is a bear). That being said, I understand you don’t really want to mess with them. They are wild animals and as a rule, wild animals do not behave in real life like they do in Disney movies. And, as my son is like any other slobbish, 21-year-old college student, proper disposal of food trash is never a high priority. The last call I wanted to get was from him telling me “Pooh” was standing in his kitchen enjoying a snack, led to his door by a trail of food wrappers. Which leads me to this video that apparently came from September from Asheville. This lady’s kids (I imagine) didn’t get much use of their swing set. From Buzz Videos site, “A mother bear and her three cubs spent a whole season visiting my yard in East Asheville, North Carolina. On this day the cubs wanted to play on the swing set and slide.”
