A North Carolina school bus driver is naturally so excited after winning $150,000 with a scratch off ticket.
We always love seeing people win lottery money in North Carolina but it especially touches our heart when someone so deserving wins big. Paula Harris of Warrenton says she always plays the same ticket and this time she hit it big. So what does she plan to do with all that money, she tells North Carolina Education lottery officials she plans to pay off her mortgage among other things.
The 59 year old North Carolina school bus driver told her kids and they couldn’t believe it either! She bought a $5 Cashword Multiplier card from the Speedway on West 3rd street in Ayden. This particular scratch off ticket made its debut in August.
Paula was able to pick up her winnings on Friday and took home $106,876 after taxes. In addition to paying off her home she plans to help her kids. So does the North Carolina Education Lottery actually help education in North Carolina? According to The North Carolina Education lottery website:
“Ticket sales from scratch-off games make it possible for the lottery to raise $2.5 million a day on average for education. The state provided $30 million in grants, using money raised by the lottery, to help Warren County build a new elementary school.
