Just days after the Carolina Panthers welcomed former quarterback Frank Reich back to Charlotte as the team’s new head coach, the Charlotte Knights are celebrating a homecoming of their own. The Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox have introduced former Knights player Justin Jirschele as their new manager for the 2023 baseball season.

According to the team’s media release, the 32-year-old Jirschele played for the Knights over parts of two seasons from 2014 to 2015 and was the manager for the Double-A Birmingham Barons for the last two seasons. The Wisconsin native is the team’s 24th manager in franchise history and the third former Knights player to hold that position. Joel Skinner and Nick Capra were the others.

The Charlotte Knights start the 2023 season with a three-game series against the Memphis Redbirds beginning Friday, March 31st at Truist Field. You can find the full schedule here, and check out the team’s new look below.
