There are lots of nice things you can say about Luke Combs.  One of them is, he never forgets where he came from.  And last night, Luke Combs boss from Boone, North Carolina introduced him before his performance at the Grammy’s.  It was the quintessential full circle moment.

Luke was up for three Grammy awards last night; Best Country Album, Best Performance, and Best Duet (with Miranda Lambert).  He gave a beautiful, some say poignant performance of his brand new single “Going Going Gone”. But it was the introduction that had all of Boone and Blowing Rock tuning in.  There was another local “celebrity” there.

Luke asked Justin Davis to do the honors of introducing him.  Justin is the owner of the Town Tavern In Boone, North Carolina and Luke credits him for giving him his start.  Luke was a bouncer at  Town Tavern while he was a student at Appalachian State University.  He even lived there at the bar for a time and worked for Justin as a bouncer. And it came full circle last night when Luke Combs asked his former boss to attend the Grammy’s and play a part in his performance slot.

Justin playfully introduced Luke and said he wasn’t that great of a bouncer because he was just too nice and that he “never spotted a fake ID”. He went on to say how proud he was of Luke for going from playing for the Town Tavern’s crowd of 75 to the world’s biggest stages. Details from The Tennessean right here.
