We love our parents and grandparents.  We want to look out for them but scammers are getting more and more clever.  Here are the seven scams the elderly  should look out for in 2023.

Think about how quickly technology changes.  Scammers are like viruses, they are constantly changing, evolving and adapting to lure the most people away from their money.  Among the most vulnerable are the elderly.  Scammers prey on the fact that many older people aren't keeping up with technology.  They also prey upon their kind nature and often giving hearts.  A perfect playground for the bad guys.

AARP and the United States anti fraud experts say these are the seven scams the elderly (or those that love them) should be looking out for.

1)Cryptocurrency romance scams.

2)Payday loan scam

3)Password bot scam

4) Student loan forgiveness scam

5) Puppy purchase

6)Check washing

7) Free gift scam

Where and when to retire are important decisions. You want to be in a location where you can fully enjoy retirement. But you also want to make the most of your money. And in 2022, it was named America’s Top State for Business by CNBC. But once you're done with your working days, should you stay? If you're looking to retire in North Carolina here's where you can do it affordably.

The lower-than-average cost of living as well as proximity to both the mountains and the coast make it an ideal place to kick back and relax. Whether you want to immerse yourself in everything a city or town offers, or road trip across the state. You'll find the perfect location in North Carolina. But which ones make the list of the best places to retire in North Carolina affordably? Keep reading to see which cities and towns are the most retirement friendly. You can also read the full Go Banking Rates study here.

Raleigh

The largest city on this list is the capital city. While some may see a rivalry between Raleigh and Charlotte, I've lived in both and think both are fantastic places to call home.

    Garner

American Idol may have made Garner, NC look like small town USA but instead, it's a bustling suburb of Raleigh. You'll get all the amenities of living in a big city but with the small community-like feel of any of our state's suburbs.

      Wilmington

Where better to retire than by the beach? You're just a short drive from several NC beaches in Wilmington.

        Durham

The triangle is faring well on this list. Durham seems to find itself rising more and more on a variety of lists and for good reason!

          Concord

This is as close as you'll get to the Queen City for an affordable retirement. Concord has been growing steadily and it's a wonderful town to retire.

            Greensboro

It feels like Greensboro often gets overlooked between Raleigh and Charlotte. But it's an affordable location to call home especially in retirement.
