I've been lucky enough to be present for some pretty great sports moments in my life.  I'm waiting to be present for one of these.  We've all seen these no-win promotions done at halftimes or intermissions of games.  And no one ever wins, right?  I'm 100% confident in saying that's exactly what everyone in attendance at the Auburn TIgers' vs. Alabama Crimson Tide basketball game thought.  "Look at this goofy kid with the "net hat.  He's probably drunk, no way does he even come within 30 feet of pulling this off."

Wrong.

The putt is 94-feet, the length of the entire basketball court.  The hole at the far end is the size of something a mouse would have to diet to enter.  Basketball courts are notoriously uneven (slightly) and blemished.  In other words, it's not like putting on a smooth green on the course.  Just because you start it on-line, doesn't mean it will stay there.  In fact, it never does.  Until this happened.

What I love is how fired up the guy who is hosting the promotion gets.  Having been there in his shoes more times than I can count, I get it.  Truly amazing and congrats to this college kid who is having to explain to his parents how he needs a little extra in his account this month to cover the taxes on the new Toyota car he just won!

This reminded me of another game, not too dissimilar to this.  Who can forget 86-year-old Mary Ann Wakefield sinking the same sort of putt for a car a couple of years ago at Ole Miss.  Here's what's weird though, The Rebels were playing...wait for it...Alabama that night!
