‘When I Said That Out Loud, It Became Real’ The Voice season 23 blind auditions occurred last night. That made it Blake Shelton’s last auditions show.
The night began with host Carson Daly announcing that the retiring O.G. coach has clicked his red button 598 times over the past 12 years and 23 seasons (and supposedly said, “I’ve never heard of that song!” 204 times).
Blake recruited his final contestant, 19-year-old Nashville singer Grace West, on his 600th button-whack. Blake said, “There’s no doubting that she’s country,” recognizing Grace’s song, Pam Tillis’ “Maybe It Was Memphis.”
“My heart swells up to think about my journey on this show: 23 seasons, and for the last person for me to hit this button for, I didn’t let it take over, I can’t show any emotion — but I did get a little bit shook-up,” said Shelton.
