Ask just about anyone in Charlotte about Amelie’s Bakery, and a smile comes across their face.Ā The beloved French bakery is a household name.Ā So, when the Uptown location closed amid COVID related challenges folks certainly missed the popular spot.Ā But according to AXIOS Charlotte, Amelie’s Bakery plans to reopen the Uptown location in late May.Ā The 14,000 square foot space has undergone a complete renovation with lots of changes.Ā Among other changes, customers can look forward to new flooring and dining room as well as a private event space.Ā However, Amelie’s is certain to continue offering the decadent pastries, cakes, tarts, lattes and so much more that customers flock to.Ā The first Amelie’s Bakery became part of the Charlotte landscape in 2008.Ā And, since then they’ve opened several locations including Rock Hill, Carmel Commons and Park Road.Ā In fact, Southern Living named it “The Best Bakery in North Carolina.”
I remember soon after moving to Charlotte I heard the chatter surrounding Amelie’s.Ā And, people seemed shocked when I asked, “what’s Amelie’s?”Ā I think it had been such a part of their lives they were stunned that as a newbie I was unaware.Ā I suppose we need to consider making it a part of the relocation kit of the Carolinas.Ā But, it took no time at all for Charlotteans to educate me in the ways of Amelie’s Bakery!Ā And, I thank them for it.Ā So, rest assured if you move here and haven’t visited this spot, you will!Ā Needless to say, Amelie’s Bakery reopening their Uptown Charlotte location is welcome news for French pastry fans.
