We Tried Bistro 217 In Pawley’s Island South Carolina-Here’s How It Went
Fried Okra with Jalapeno Remoulade at Bistro 217, Pawley's Island, South Carolina
It’s that time of year again. The hubby and his best buddy play in a golf tournament associated with the Carolina Country Music Festival in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. And, while the guys play so do we wives. After shopping some incredible consignment shops, we searched a lunch spot in the Pawleys Island area near the golf course where we dropped the guys. We stumbled upon Bistro 217. Upon further research, I realized this spot was part of the recent Cooking Channel competition “Chef Swap at the Beach.” Apparently, the locals and visitors alike already knew the reputation of this spot. At first glance, it looks to be on the smaller side. However, when we entered and strolled through the charming courtyard we realized the space was larger than first thought. The staff was friendly and the service was prompt and on point.
The Bistro 217 menu offered a good variety of appetizers, salads, burgers and entrees. My friend and I both decided we absolutely had to order the Tomato, Crab and Jalapeño Soup. It was creamy, delicious and flavorful. Also, we chose to nibble on the Fried Okra with Jalapeño Remoulade. It, too, was outstanding with a light tempura batter, served whole. And, for my entree I enjoyed a salad with chicken and honey lime vinaigrette with peanut sauce. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Furthermore, we caught a glimpse of their award-winning burger ordered at a nearby table. I believe at least 3 people split it! Bistro 217 opened in 2004, and it’s easy to see why it remains popular. Their website says the name is a nod to the fact that it’s the owners’ 2nd restaurant, and it sits on U.S. Hwy 17. So, if you’re in the Pawleys Island area give Bistro 217 a try.
