Walnut Grill Finally Open In North Carolina And We’re Excited To Visit

As a self-proclaimed “foodie” I never miss an opportunity to seek out new restaurants.  And, back in March, Local Today reported a new steak and seafood restaurant was opening in South Charlotte in April at 15719 Brixham Hill Ave.  The Walnut Grill, based in Pittsburgh, is now in the space once occupied by Stone Mountain Grill.

And, Walnut Grill has several other locations around the country, including Pennsylvania and St. Louis.  In browsing the online menus for their other locations,  we found a number of elevated “bar bite” type starters, including sliders, wings, pretzel bites and so much more.  Also, Walnut Grill offers plenty of choices for casual wraps, sandwiches and flatbreads.  And, of course there’s house-cut steaks, seafood and all the sides!  Plus, the dessert selection caught my eye with something called a “Caramelized Walnut Ball!”

The Facebook page for Walnut Grill indicates starting Wednesday, April 19 they are open all day for lunch and dinner.  Previously, the restaurant had limited operating hours.  And, alcohol will become available for purchase as well.

So, I think this new location of Walnut Grill will be welcomed with open arms!  The large space has plenty of room for a nice patio and outdoor seating.  We love a good patio in the warm months.  And, this location in South Charlotte has so much surrounding it.

There’s Ballantyne Resort, a number of shops and restaurants and the nearby developing green space for events in Ballantyne’s Backyard.  And, with easy access to I-485, the area is bustling with growth.  Overall, the whole area is simply fun to gather with friends and spend some time enjoying good food and company.  So, take a look at their social media pages and website to learn more about Walnut Grill.

Two North Carolina Restaurants Featured In Yelp's Top 100 Places To Eat

We are always looking for new restaurants to try. Our friends often have great recommendations but another resource we use is the review site Yelp. The site recently released its annual list of the Top 100 Places To Eat in the US for 2023. There were two North Carolina restaurants that were named to the top places to eat list. One of them is even local to Charlotte! The other you will find in Greensboro. To determine this list Yelp reached out to the user community first, requesting individuals to submit their favorite U.S. restaurants. From there the data science team at Yelp looked at the top community submissions to determine the top restaurants by ratings, number of reviews, and volume of submissions. They also made sure to include an equal geographic representation. Yelp community managers helped finalize the rankings.

That leads us to the 2023 Top 100 Places To Eat List. It includes eateries in a wide variety of cuisines including Italian, Ethiopian, Hawaiian, and Vegan offerings. It was not just North Carolina featured with two of the top places to eat. There was also a Charleston, South Carolina spot that made the list.
