University’s Youngest Ever Graduate Celebrated At This South Carolina College
The majority of students who take the college path do so after high school. However, some choose to juggle college classes while still in high school. Many of those either finish high school with an associate degree or take those credits to a four year university and graduate in 2 or 3 years. Occasionally, a rare thing happens and a student accomplishes something not done before. A student becomes the university’s youngest ever graduate. And, that’s what happened at Coastal Carolina University in Conway, South Carolina.
Eighteen year old Colin Scholl is this South Carolina university’s youngest ever graduate to walk the stage. And, next weekend he earns his bachelor’s degree before receiving his high school diploma. Colin is a psychology major with three minors in Asian studies. He began his path at the Scholars Academy on the Coastal Carolina University campus.
The principal of the Scholars Academy says Colin approached him at the end of his freshman year in high school. And, Colin already had a spreadsheet mapping out a plan to earn a bachelor’s degree by the time he finished high school. So, with determination and hard work he did it.
Plus, the university’s youngest ever graduate also completed two years in Chinese language studies and now tutors others. And, he somehow found time for his love of the cello. Furthermore, he’s already been accepted to graduate school. He has a plan to earn his PhD in psychology with a concentration in bilingualism, language and cognition. Ultimately, he hopes to become a professor and do research.
This South Carolina university is near and dear not only because it’s located in Conway not far from Myrtle Beach. But, my son is wrapping up his junior year there. So, we know firsthand what an accomplishment Colin achieved. Graduating college in 4 years is never without challenges. And, I can’t even imagine taking the path this 18 year old chose. Congratulations to Colin on being this university’s youngest ever graduate. And, wish me luck as my son embarks on his own senior year!
