Massive Catfish Just Pulled From This North Carolina Lake
As someone who has caught massive catfish let me just say, I’m impressed. The biggest “cat” I have ever caught was 42 pounds. This fish is almost twice that size. A massive catfish was just pulled from this North Carolina lake.
Laython Sloop and Justin Smith were doing a little fishing on Lake Norman over the weekend when Laython saw that rod bend. It bent double. He knew he had a huge fish on the line but he didn’t know just how big. He had a feeling when he started to reel in that this one was special.
Channel 9 says it took both guys to pull in the catfish which tipped out Sloop’s scales at 75 pounds. (Click on that link to see the monster cat.) He nicknamed him “Normie”. Makes sense. That number made me wonder if that is a state record. It is not. The state record for the biggest catfish is a 127 pounder. It was caught on the Roanoke River by a guy named Rocky Baker.
Sloop did the right thing by putting his prize back in Lake Norman. That means I can catch him another day. Here fishy fishy fishy, come to momma.
Here are a few pics of some catfish I have caught over the years in Lakes Norman, Wylie and Wateree.
