Family Pulls Epic Dinner Prank On New Boyfriend
Family’s pulling pranks on boyfriends and girlfriends is nothing new. In our family, my sister’s boyfriends were fair game. Now, not all of them. You’ve got to be careful when swimming in these waters. No, only my sister’s “serious” boyfriends felt our family’s creative wrath. My favorite boyfriend prank is the one we pulled on the man who’s been my brother-in-law for more than 30 years now.
There are two traditional pies on our Thanksgiving Table: pumpkin and pecan. My dad and I will eat the pumpkin, but only after there is no pecan. We told my sister, “Okay, when given the choice, if Peyton chooses pumpkin, we’re going to look at you and act exasperated. Then, you take off the engagement ring. Apoligize and tell him the wedding’s off, and then walk out of the room. We will follow you.”
I honestly couldn’t believe she went along with this, but she did. And hey, he had a 50-50 chance. Of course he picked pumpkin. And of course it turned out to be one of the greatest moments in the history of our family.
So, when I saw what this family did, I couldn’t help but smile. The new boyfriend has been invited over to the house for a family dinner. Any boyfriend will tell you, this is a BIG deal. It’s huge to get the invite and maybe even bigger to accept. I mean, that’s a commitment. As things are about to get underway, instead of a prayer, the family rises for The Pledge of Allegiance and then a savage turn move before sitting down to eat.
It is truly amazing. I plan on pulling a similar dinner prank when our son brings home “the next one.”

North Carolina is home to many unique and beautiful places to explore the outdoors, both in campgrounds and in the wild. There are a bunch of great spots, from State Parks to private campgrounds, to even your own backyard!
Camping has all sorts of benefits, and it’s almost certain to help your family.
“Simply put, camping is good for you, both in body and mind,” a Utah State University study said. “Benefits include relationship building, opportunities to learn and develop new skills, unplugging and getting away from screens, connecting with nature, stress reduction, and increasing physical fitness.”
And don’t be afraid if you are new to all of this. There are a number of great resources out there to help you get started with camping.
“The best way to learn to camp is to jump right in and try,” KOA said in this handy guide. “You may encounter a few bumps along the road, but it is important to remember that no camping trip ever goes exactly as planned. As long as you know the camping basics, the rest will become memories and experiences to help you grow each time you embark on another trip.”
