Headed To South Carolina’s Grand Strand? Leave The Thong At Home
Are you headed to South Carolina’s Grand Strand this summer? If so, leave the thong bathing suit at home.
Thong style bathing suits are prohibited at Myrtle Beach, and violators could be charged with a misdemeanor, facing a fine of up to $500 or 30 days in jail. The thong rule is one of many that beachgoers may not know they are violating. Here are some other rules and regulations that will keep you out of trouble at South Carolina’s Grand Strand:
- Possession or consumption of alcohol is prohibited on the beach. Also, glass containers and bottles are prohibited on the beach.
- Tents are regulated and limited. After Memorial Day, tents are banned on the beach through Labor Day. Round umbrellas with a diameter of 7.5 feet or less are permitted, and they must be in line with or behind the line of lifeguards’ umbrellas. During times when tents are permitted (post-Labor Day to Memorial Day), they may be no larger than 12 feet and must be 10 feet behind the lifeguard umbrella line.
- Leashed dogs are allowed on the beach, but only before 10 a.m. and after 5 p.m. Of course, service dogs are allowed anytime.
- Through Labor day, if you want to ride a bicycle on the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk, it’s only permitted between 5 a.m. and 10 a.m.
