Gastonia North Carolina Man Speechless After Huge Lottery Win
There is one thing that is absolutely true when it comes to winning the lottery: if you don’t play, you’ll never win. I don’t go crazy with playing, but every now and again, I’ll pluck down $5-$10 towards the dream of fortune and glory. Gastonia’s Randy Stroud is my kind of guy. And my kind of lottery player. Not long ago, Stroud stopped off at a Lowell, North Carolina Mini Mart to grab a drink. Once at the counter? Why not pick up a $5 scratch off? Next thing you know, BOOM! Randy Stroud was $200,000 richer than when he walked into the store.
Stroud told WBTV, “My mouth couldn’t speak right, I could barely talk to the girl in the store.”
I gotta tell you, that would be quite a moment if I was stunned to silence, right? Even if I was stunned to silence, something tells me that $200,000 might have me dancing naked on the Mini Mart counter. <g>
Randy Stroud set about collecting his windfall at the lottery headquarters in Raleigh on Monday. After he gave Uncle Sam and the state of North Carolina their taste, he walked out with $142,501 free and clear.
Stroud plans for the money include some repairs to his house and his ongoing passion project of restoring a 1972 Chevy Monte Carlo.
“You always see the big numbers and you always go, ‘Man wouldn’t that be nice,’” Stroud told WBTV. “You think that is never going to happen but it happened. It just absolutely happened.”
Yes, it did. Congratulations.
“My mouth couldn’t speak right,” said Randy Stroud. “I could barely talk to the girl in the store.”
