For anyone passionate about music, one of the highlights of their career is being recognized with a Grammy award. Although awards don’t define us, it’s always nice to be recognized by your peers for a job well done. And, that dream could be a reality for a music professor from a university in South Carolina. According to WBTW, Coastal Carolina University music professor Eric Schultz just received a Grammy nomination.
This story immediately caught my eye of course because my son attends Coastal Carolina University in Conway, South Carolina. But, it’s also refreshing to see positive recognition for educators who really seem to connect with students.
The report points out Schultz getting the nod is a huge honor and places him among the top 10% in his area of expertise. The Music Educator award pays tribute to educators, such as Schultz, who make lasting and significant impacts in the field. There were more than 2000 nominees from which he was chosen to be a quarterfinalist.
Furthermore, the music professor says he feels he resonates with students because he’s “really vulnerable” with them. And, that allows them to feel they can share with him too. Also, beyond simple academic processes such as tests and the like, Schultz prefers to lean on his passion for music.
So, what’s next? In September we find out who semifinalists will be. Then, the winners get the recognition during the 2024 Grammy Awards. Congratulations to music professor Eric Schultz on his Grammy nomination. And, we wish him the best in bringing home the win! Read more for the full story on Eric and his teaching philosophy.
List: Best South Carolina Colleges And Universities
What are the best colleges in South Carolina? There’s no perfect college because no one student wants or needs the exact same things. What makes a particular academic institution stand out to one person may be exactly what another doesn’t want. And choosing which school that is can be a daunting task. Even creating a list of universities to visit and apply to can be overwhelming. That’s why Niche creates its Best Colleges rankings each year. And they have released their rankings for 2022-2023.
The Best Colleges ranking is based on rigorous analysis of academic, admissions, financial, and student life data from the U.S. Department of Education along with millions of reviews from students and alumni. The ranking compares more than 1,000 top colleges and universities in the U.S. This year’s rankings have reduced the weight of ACT/SAT scores to reflect a general de-emphasis on test scores in the college admissions process.
