Oh my do I love donuts!  Is it donut or doughnut?  Either way, my eyes light up when I spy that famous "hot now" sign or anything resembling a circle of fried and glazed dough.  So, it's fitting we set aside a whole day to honor the donut.  Friday, June 2 is "National Donut Day."  And, Charlotte on The Cheap pointed us to free treats and deals in and around the Charlotte area.

Krispy Kreme

Of course, we start with North Carolina's own born and bred Krispy Kreme.  Participating stores in the chain offer a free donut on Friday, June 2.  And, if you decide to purchase a dozen, you can get a second Original Glazed dozen for just $2.  Check the website for locations near you!  Obviously they're all over the Carolinas and easy to find.

Your Mom's Donuts

Next, let's check on Your Mom's Donuts.  The locally owned shop is famous around here for their square donuts that pack a whole lot of flavor.  They celebrate National Donut Day by offering "Donut Nuggets" with each purchase.  Of course, check the website or social posts for details.

The Salty

And, finally I want to highlight a spot we recently discovered.  Our office sits in the heart of South End in Charlotte.  Just across the tracks behind our building is a devilish place called "The Salty."  I say devilish because it tempts all of us daily.  And, after all, we can just walk right over for a treat.  Hey, that's exercise, right?  Well, since I follow them on Instagram and have the app I'm eligible for these deals.  For National Donut Day, The Salty offers free delivery for app and online purchases.   Plus, there's a giveaway with a chance to win a $250 gift card.  And, yes, I'm entered!  Their featured donut for the day will be the Mini French Toast Donut.  Check their site for more deals.

Also, Charlotte on The Cheap features more spots around the Charlotte area that are celebrating National Donut Day.  See their full list for more info on where to find deals.  And, Happy National Donut Day!
