As the summer heat starts to come to North Carolina many individuals are trying to find ways to beat the heat. WCNC Charlotte says there are plenty of options across the Charlotte area to soak up the sun while keeping cool. Places to keep cool while under the sun in the Charlotte, NC area include Community pools, beaches, and splash pads.

Community Pools are a good way to have fun in the sun this summer.

Mecklenburg County public pools are currently open, including Ramsey Creek Beach at Lake Norman. The county plans to operate two public pools all summer long except on July 4.

Cordelia, located at 2100 N. Davidson St.: Open from noon to 6 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with a $2 entry fee.

Double Oaks Family Aquatic Center, located at 2014 Statesville Ave.: Open noon to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with a $2 entry fee.

Starting June 17th at 10 a.m. both facilities will offer free swim lessons all summer. Lessons will be twice a day on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday starting at 12:00 to 2:30 p.m. and then 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Beaches are a good way to keep cool and have a good time.

Ramsey Creek Beach, located at 18441 Nantz Road, is currently open for people to enjoy.

The hours of operation are from Noon to 6 p.m Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Entry fees vary based on many things.

  • $5.00 entry fee per car for County Residents
  • $10.00 entry fee per car for Non-County Residents

Weekends

  • $10.00 entry fee per car for County Residents
  • $15.00 entry fee per car for Non-County Residents

  • Walk-ins aged 6 and under are free
  • Walk-ins 6-13: $3.00
  • Walk-Ins 14 and older: $5.00
  • Beach Shuttle Passengers (Holiday Weekends Only): Free

One Of 10 Best Waterparks In The US Is A Short Drive From North Carolina

USA Today recently released the winners of their 10 Best Campaigns. And one of the categories was the best outdoor waterpark. USA Today's readers voted on what they consider the 10 best waterparks in the US. And while none of the North Carolina water parks made the list, one is just a short drive away! North Carolina does have some great waterparks including Carolina Harbor, Wet N' Wild Emerald Point, and Great Wolf Lodge. But if you're willing to drive maybe check out some of the ones on this list!
