North Carolina Students Keep Reading All Summer Long With Help From The Mobile Book Bus
As a kid we couldn’t wait for that last school bell to sound and ring in the beginning of summer. But, parents on the other hand, have other things to think about. Some wonder how to keep the kids busy, having fun, yet still engaged in some type of activity that keeps their brains ready when school starts back up again. Enter UCPS Mobile Book Bus to keep North Carolina students reading all summer long.
The Union County Public Schools Mobile Book Bus just began rolling for the summer. And, when it arrives in your community, students can jump on board and access a wide range of books suitable for their age, and at no cost. According to the UCPS website, the bus makes stops at summer learning camps and communities across Union County.
And, in addition to help from communities, “Promising Pages” also makes the program possible with thousands of new and gently used books for the students this summer. Plus, with its brightly colored motif, the Mobile Book Bus is certainly eye catching and inviting for kids.
So, be on the lookout for the Mobile Book Bus to roll into a stop near you. There’s a complete calendar of dates and locations for the bus on the UCPS website. Take a look at it to make plans. And, remember it will not operate the week of July 3.
The UCPS Mobile Book Bus definitely turns traditional summer reading programs upside down. Back when we were in school, we had programs that offered pizza or movie coupons for reaching designated reading goals. But, we didn’t have access to something as exciting as the Mobile Book Bus. So, happy summer and happy reading!
