Happy 247th birthday America. Wow, she doesn’t look a day over 237. Here are a few of the 4th of July festivities in Gaston and Cleveland counties.

Have you been to downtown Gastonia lately? It’s looking great down there. If you haven’t been in a while then the fourth of July is the perfect place to get reacquainted. Head to the Rotary Pavilion on 111 North South Street long about 5pm. There are food trucks, fun stuff for the kids and adults and of course fireworks.
Cherryville, North Carolina will get the party started early. One of their celebrations will be held Friday June 30 at Rudisill Stadium. That of course is on East Church Street with all the usual celebratory fare.
And let’s not forget Shelby. The jewel and county seat of Cleveland County knows how to celebrate Uncle Sam’s birthday. Head over to my old stomping grounds the Shelby City Park. Festivities get underway around 5 pm with food, music, fireworks and a corn hole tournament.
