The Fury 325 coaster at Carowinds is one of the most popular rides in the park. However, according to WCNC Charlotte, the ride is now closed until further notice after a huge crack was seen on a support beam and was reported to employees.

Jeremy Wagner shared videos and photos on Friday night of the crack in the Fury 325 coaster. The videos that he shared show the ride running as if nothing was wrong. When you watch the video you can see the large crack in the support beam and you even see the beam moving as the coaster car moves on the track it's supporting.

Wanger said after he took the video he shared it with park officials and was later told the ride had been shut down. A spokesperson for Carowinds gave the following statement when asked about the ride:

"Carowinds today closed Fury 325 after park personnel became aware of a crack at the top of a steel support pillar. The park’s maintenance team is conducting a thorough inspection and the ride will remain closed until repairs have been completed. Safety is our top priority and we appreciate the patience and understanding of our valued guests during this process. As part of our comprehensive safety protocols, all rides, including Fury 325, undergo daily inspections to ensure their proper functioning and structural integrity."

The park has not yet provided a timeline for when the ride will re-open. The North Carolina Department of Labor said that on Monday the Elevator and Amusement Device Bureau will be investigating the issue.

Carowinds has had to shut down other rides in the past due to various problems. In 2019 the Copperhead Strike rollercoaster was shut down after a guest suffered a thumb injury onboard. In 2015 the Fury 325 was placed under scrutiny after the ride stopped unexpectedly near one of the steepest drops. Furthermore, in 2017, the Ricochet got stuck for around an hour.

Carowinds Ranks As One Of America’s Most Loved Theme Parks

Looking to head to a theme park this spring or summer? Sure you could pack up and head to Florida but we also have a pretty great park here in the Carolinas. And not that we needed confirmation of that, but its still nice to hear! Our friends at AirportParkingReservations.com recently compiled a list of America's Most Loved Theme Parks and shared those results with us. And local favorite Carowinds is very close to the top of that list!

The rankings were calculated based on multiple factors including ticket prices, the number of roller coasters and rides, as well as popularity on social media. These are just some of what makes theme parks exciting to visit! I'm definitely a ride person, but other people go for the food, the shows, or simply the atmosphere. Nope- I just want to ride as many rides as many times as possible. The other stuff? It can be an added bonus but it's not why I am there. So these rankings, with an emphasis on rides, are made for me.

I'll give you a hint one of the major Florida theme parks topped this list, while another is shockingly absent. Keep reading to see where Carowinds ranked among the most loved theme parks. Are you surprised by the major parks it beat? Or is Carowinds your number one? You can see the full list and study here.
