South Carolina Airport Greets Passengers With Lego Replica Of Famous Tourist Attraction
We are frequent visitors to the Myrtle Beach, South Carolina area. In fact, we are here right now on our annual July 4th trip. And, anyone who visits the Grand Strand is sure to see the famous SkyWheel near the popular Boardwalk tourist area. So now, the iconic feature greets visitors at the Myrtle Beach, South Carolina airport in a SkyWheel Lego replica.
According to WMBF, Myrtle Beach International Airport introduced the 12 foot replica constructed of 20,000 Legos in the baggage claim area. The creation is the design of a marketing assistant who employed a virtual program used at Horry County Schools Academy of Arts, Science and Technology in addition to Clemson University, too.
The actual SkyWheel is a must see for all first time Myrtle Beach visitors. It soars nearly 200 feet above the city. And, the attraction offers guests views of the strip in enclosed gondolas. It’s a great place to catch a glimpse of breathtaking Myrtle Beach sunsets. And, of course, sunrise views as well.
Plus, the SkyWheel also offers visitors special occasion rides. With a little pre-planning and reservations, guests wishing to stage a gender reveal have unique options to enjoy. And, there are many times throughout the year the SkyWheel illuminates to commemorate certain events happening locally or nationally.
Our son is a student at nearby Coastal Carolina University in Conway, South Carolina. And, the school has a tradition of something called “Teal Tuesday.” The students are encouraged to wear the school colors of teal every week in a show of school spirit. And, quite often the SkyWheel also lights up in teal on Tuesdays.
So, if you happen to be doing any travel this summer that includes a stop in the Myrtle Beach airport, look for the impressive Lego replica of the iconic SkyWheel attraction.
