Buc-ees Has Our Favorite Location In South Carolina But They Made A Boo Boo On A Billboard In Texas
We constantly tell everyone how we love Buc-ee’s. In case you don’t know, it’s the enormous travel stop started in Texas. And, it’s been growing with locations popping up everywhere. The one we always visit on our way to Myrtle Beach is in Florence, South Carolina. But, the famous chain got attention this week for a mistake noticed on one of their roadside billboards in Texas. Apparently, Buc-ee’s misspelled billboard captured many eyes.
According to WCNC, drivers noticed the Buc-ee’s billboard near Temple, Texas sported an obvious misspelling. The sign meant to read “Howdy.” However, “Howdy” appeared as “Hodwy.” With a huge company known for immaculate bathrooms, endless gas pumps and tons of billboards, it’s hard to believe this mistake slipped through. Some folks wondered was it an advertising ploy to get people talking? If so, it’s pretty clever. I mean, who in Texas misspells “Howdy?”
Well, we don’t know right now. And, maybe we never will. Just the other day on our way into the huge Florence, South Carolina location I snapped pics of all the clever signs. I love the reminders for “dog guardians” to clean up after their pets. The travel stop excels in cute and friendly little nudges to mind your manners. It’s almost a subtle “bless your heart” if you can’t remember to scoop the poop.
But, one thing I do know after visiting Buc-ee’s in multiple states, they earned the clean bathroom awards. And, they top the bunch with customer service. No matter how crowded the spot is, I am able to visit the bathroom, shop and pick up Beaver Nuggets and Brisket Sandwiches in no time flat. And, that’s thanks to how well-staffed each location is. Plus, in looking at their ads for employees it looks as though the pay and benefits keep staff happy.
So, if the billboard is a mistake, we cut them slack. But, if Buc-ee’s misspelled billboard is an advertising ploy, we applaud the clever tactic!
