Here’s What The Tanner In The Morning Show Would Do With The $1B Powerball Jackpot If We Won
With the Powerball jackpot at $1 billion for tonight’s drawing, all of us here on the Tanner in the Morning Show fantasized about winning the big prize.
Of course we all had fun thinking about exotic travel and flashy purchases, but a common theme for us was making sure our friends and family are financially set.
“Finally, I would be able to afford to put a down payment on a house on Lake Norman,” Tanner said.
Forbes magazine recommends that the first thing a lottery winner should do is keep the winnings secret. Catherine admits she would have trouble with that part. “I would give enough to my close friends and family that they would never have to worry about money. And I would buy property.”
Chris had a thoughtful way to help loved ones with his winnings. He says he would pay off mortgages rather than just hand over large sums of money.
I fear the stories about lottery winners whose lives have been wrecked by sudden, enormous wealth. For that reason I would make sure to hire someone to manage the windfall. But with all that said, I would enjoy being generous with friends and family.
