National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day Is Coming And Our Favorite Cookie Shops Help Us Celebrate
We set aside days for practically everything imaginable. And, quite frankly some are ridiculous. But, National Chocolate Chip Cookie day deserves a day every day in my opinion. Estimates say the average person consumes somewhere around 35,000 cookies in a lifetime. And, August 4 became the day we recognize the beloved chocolate chip cookie.
Do you know the history of National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day? Or the origins of the famous chocolate chip cookie? According to NationalToday.com, the first chocolate chip cookie was a happy accident made by baker Ruth Graves Wakefield in 1938. Wakefield planned on making chocolate cookies at the Toll House Inn in Whitman, Massachusetts. And, depending on which story you read, she either ran out of the regular baking chocolate and used chips instead. Or, she just decided to try the chips. Either way, instead of melting into the cookie, the chips stayed in chunk form. And, the glorious chocolate chip cookie came to life.
And, the more famous Wakefield’s cookie became the more people noticed her contribution. Nestle offered to include her recipe on the wrapper for their cookie dough in exchange for awarding her a lifetime of free cookies. Nabisco debuted their “Chips Ahoy” chocolate chip cookies in 1963. And, Massachusetts adopted the chocolate chip cookie as their official state cookie in 1997.
So, how to celebrate this important day? Well, the inspiration for my writing this came from a VIP alert I received from Crumbl Cookies. It simply read, “Since you’re a VIP, we’ll give you a hint: Expect chocolate chips from coast to coast with double the rewards. That’s all you get for now!” BTW we learned Crumbl Cookies offers Double Crumbs on August 4 on all orders, excluding catering. And, we know those crumbs get you closer to rewards!
And, another of our favorite cookie shops celebrates National Chocolate Chip Cookie day this week. Tiff’s Treats, famous for delivering warm cookies, posted about it on Twitter. It appears as though they plan to announce different codes on social media throughout the week for incredible free cookie giveaways.
Oh yeah- And we're doing this for the whole week at random times, so you'll get another chance. >>>
