According to WCNC Charlotte, the York Coffee Roastery in York County, South Carolina offers a lot more than just a good cup of coffee to start your morning. They give people with disabilities the opportunity to prepare for a fulfilling career.

You will find this unique store at 132 Blackburn Street in York. Not only do they have a great cup of coffee, they have an inspiring atmosphere. They also provide those with various disabilities the ability to enjoy a wonderful work experience.

York Coffee Roastery has the motto "more than just a great cup of coffee," and the management at the shop lives by it. The coffee shop was created by MaxAbilities family of innovative services. Providing work training opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities is the group's main mission. The shop helps those with autism, head injuries, and spinal cord injuries.

The idea behind the business is to find a way to a sustainable and non-Medicaid-based source of job coaching. MaxAbilities knows that a cup of coffee isn't just about getting that morning caffeine in your system. With every purchase made at the coffee shop, the customers help to fund job training opportunities for the workers.

The executive director of MaxAbilities, Michelle Shaffer said, "We are here to teach them these job skills so they can take the thing they love to do and have the confidence and the background job training and a reference on their resume to go out and get that job they really want."
