Taylor Swift performed at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on July 28 and July 29 for her Eras Tour. Swift performed past curfew until 11:38 p.m., according to ET online.
Michelle Templeton, Communications Director and Sustainability Manager for Santa Clara mentions a potential violation of the concert’s fire permit (pyrotechnics). It states that fireworks after 11 p.m. at the venue will result in permit violations and fines of up to $1,000 per concert for violations.
The second violation is for curfew and noise. Staff will review event curfew violations for activities after 11 p.m. Noise ordinance violations will be determined after reviewing recorded noise levels and complaints. Templeton says it may take a couple of weeks to compile the information.
Previous concert citations for noise or curfew violations have ranged from $750 to $2100. Santa Clara Police Department received no noise complaints during Swift’s concerts.
Obviously, this will probably be overlooked. Now if it were an artist or group that isn’t received well by the California powers that be, the outcome might be different.
Five Things Taylor Swift Said After She Won Her First Award
Taylor Swift continues to make headlines and set records as the 2023 American leg of the “Eras Tour” wraps in Los Angeles with six sold-out shows this week. Then she takes the tour internationally, starting in Mexico for four shows in Mexico City and then shows in South America through November.
I’ve had the pleasure of following Taylor in Nashville, doing interviews and covering her since the beginning of her career in 2006 when she released her debut album. I was even backstage in the press room when Swift won her very first award at Nashville’s CMT Music Awards on April 16, 2007. She was nominated for her first award in CMT’s “Breakthrough Video of the Year” category. She was nominated against Jason Aldean’s “Amarillo Sky,” Kellie Pickler’s “Red High Heels,” and The Wreckers’ (a duo featuring Michelle Branch) “Leave The Pieces.”
Big winners at the 2007 CMT Music Awards were Carrie Underwood for Female Video of the Year for “Before He Cheats,” Group Video of the Year went to Rascal Flatts for “What Hurts The Most,” and CMT favorite Kenny Chesney won Male Video of the Year for “You Save Me.”
When Taylor came backstage, she was beside herself with excitement for winning the CMT “Breakthrough Video of the Year” for her music video for “Tim McGraw,” which was her first single on country radio and the song that introduced us all to the megastar.
As we celebrate all things Swift as she wraps the American leg of her “Eras Tour,” I thought it would be fun to look back at that first award night for Taylor and share some of the things she said as she embarked on a career that has already amassed over 500 awards.
