South Carolina Twins Find Out They Have 65 Siblings
Twins from Summerville were flabbergasted to find out they have 65 siblings.
Amelia and Andres Palmer used different genetic websites to make the discovery. It was already known to them that their father had been a sperm donor.
“I was curious to know more of like my background and my ancestry, as well as figuring out who my father was, and seeing if I could connect to any of the other siblings,” Amelia Palmer told WCSC-TV. “I didn’t think I had this many; I was thinking maybe two to three.”
Amelia’s first genetic test showed that she had eight siblings. Her brother’s test turned up 18 siblings. Between the tests and the power of social media, the Palmer twins have now confirmed they have at least 65 siblings. Those siblings include seven sets of twins and one set of triplets. The brothers and sisters cover much of North America, living in California, Canada, the east coast and the midwest. Their ages range from 14 to 27.
Amelia and Andrew hope to keep the family together by planning annual gatherings.
