Pumpkins are out in full force at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. I guess we shouldn’t be surprised, considering the first Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party event is scheduled for August 11th. The after-hours event is so popular, that several nights are already sold out.
We’ve been several times, and it’s so fun to dress up as your favorite character, and trick or treat the night away.
This year will be especially cool because something new is coming to the Haunted Mansion. The popular Hatbox Ghost that appears in the Disneyland version of the ride is coming to Magic Kingdom. We’ve heard that he will make his appearance somewhere near the end of the hallway at the beginning of the ride, so keep your eyes peeled.
The Halloween events a Disney are very different than the typical parties at other parks. While the other parks go for "the scare factor." Disney relies more on the "treat" factor. Giving away candy at many locations. Most of the events are very kid friendly. Even for young children.
Here are the newest pumpkins lining Main Street in the Magic Kingdom in Orlando. These are just a taste of what you find throughout the park from now through Halloween.

Most Popular Horror Movie “Boogeyman” By State
Tis the season to get scared. It's Halloween time and that means "The Boogeyman" is gonna get you! The thing about the boogeyman though is that for each of us, it's different. In fact, when it comes to horror movie provocateurs of fright, where you live can be a determining factor. This survey is from frontierbundles.com and lists the most popular horror movie villain by state. I only have one problem. My boogeyman didn't make the list.
No one has ever scared me-to this day-like "Michael Myers" of the "Halloween" movies. I cannot believe my fear is not shared by more people? How is he not the most popular/feared Hollywood monster in any state? Okay, off my soapbox. So, who did make the list?
"Frankenstein"
Mary Shelley's literary creation come to life in 1931 in the person of Boris Karloff is most feared in Arizona, Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and right here in North Carolina and South Carolina
"Ghostface" from "Scream"
If Ghostface from the "Scream" movies is your jam when it comes to terror, then you join the opinion of the people in ... Arkansas, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Nevada, South Dakota and Wisconsin
"Chucky" from "Child's Play"
If you are most creeped out by a creepy and sinister doll named, "Chucky" from the "Child's Play" movies, you're not alone. Your sentiment is shared by the people of ... Alabama, California, Illinois, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico and Texas
"The Alien" from "Alien"
The tagline to this movie was, "In space, no one can hear you scream." The original in the "Alien" franchise is indeed one of the most suspenseful and scary movies in my life. If the "alien" pushes your scary buttons most, then you're in line with the citizens of ... Colorado, Florida, Montana, Oregon, Vermont and Washington
"Norman Bates" from "Psycho"
In the history of motion pictures, there may not be a more calm and creepy portrayal that that of "Norman Bates" by the late, great Anthony Perkins in Alfred Hitchcock's classic, "Psycho." Two words say it all: shower scene. If your main boogeyman is Mrs. Bates' little boy, you're partnered with those that live in ... Hawaii, Missouri, Ohio, Rhode Island and Virginia
"Pennywise" from "It"
My wife has always been one that is totally put over the edge by clowns. I can remember her squirming in her chair when we would go to the circus just knowing they were in the building. And these were good clowns. Or were they? <g> Stephen King's sewer dwelling clown is the most popular with people who live in ... Iowa, Nebraska, Utah and West Virginia
"Leatherface" from "Texas Chainsaw Massacre"
"Texas Chainsaw Massacre" is a classic, 1970s, low-budget horror film. What a classic it is! And if the film's chainsaw-wielding cannibal is your speed, then you are of the same mind as those living in ... Kentucky, Oklahoma and Tennessee (surprisingly NOT Texas?!)
"Carrie" from "Carrie"
And that Stephen King guy again. This time his creation is a girl who can bring all sorts of hell down upon her enemies just by thinking about it. "Carrie" was brought to life by Sissy Spacek and if an unhinged teenage girl flies your freak flag, then you're in league with the population of... Washington DC and Michigan
"Hannibal Lecter" from "The Silence of the Lambs"
Anthony Hopkins was only onscreen for less than 20 minutes of this movie, but it was enough to win an Academy Award and cement the name of "Hannibal Lecter" atop many boogeyman lists. If he tops yours, then your feelings are shared by the people of ... Alaska and North Dakota
"Jack Torrance" from "The Shining"
The more we dive into this list, the more you realize that author Stephen King, has A LOT of issues. <g> His character of Jack Torrance was brought to life onscreen by none other than Jack Nicholson. "Here's Johnny!" If Jack makes you cringe in fear most, you're not by yourself. Folks in ... Maine. Of course, King's home state. Makes sense.
"Dracula"
And finally, "The Prince of Darkness." I've probably read Bram Stoker's classic horror novel a half dozen times in my life. His character from Transylvania has been striking fear in the hearts of people on screen since 1931. Hungarian actor Bela Lugosi was the first and probably most recognized in the role.
However, for my money, THE definitive portrayal was from Gary Oldman in 1992.
And if "Count Dracula" scares you most, then you are in the same boat with the people of ... Wyoming
