The office of the Anderson County Coroner tells Channel 9 that the boy was struck and killed by a tree just as he was getting out of his car. Authorities tell WLOS in Asheville that Evan Christopher Kinley was declared dead at the scene. The cause of death was injuries similar to blunt force trauma. Oh how my heart aches to hear this.
More than 1.1 million homes and businesses were without power due to the storms.
