‘Carolina CiderFest’ Returns To Popular North Carolina Mountain Town
“Sunday Fundays” for our crew in the fall usually involve hitting three or four breweries, wineries, or craft cocktail bars. You get those 60–65 degree days that turn into 45-50 degree nights under clear skies, man those drinks just taste better, right? That being said, when we go to breweries, I hope that there’s a cider on tap (there usually is). My wife would just as soon cut off her foot as drink beer. It’s just not her thing. She loves a good cider though. On our calendar this year? Just for her, “Carolina CiderFest” is returning to Asheville.
On October 21, “Carolina CiderFest” will once again be held in McCormick Field from 11:30am to 3pm. Shay & Company is partnering with the North Carolina Cider Association (NCCA) to host the event, now in its tenth year. Four those 3 1/2 hours you’ll be able to enjoy tastings of hard cider, mead (LOVE a good mead), apple wine and seltzers. And of course, you’re in Asheville, so there will be plenty of great artisanal food as well.
Lyndon Smith is the Board President of NCCA and he tells WLOS-TV, “We’re incredibly excited to partner with Shay & Company on this exceptional festival that engages attendees with cider, mead, food, speakers and activities. Our statewide association of award-winning cidermakers brings a wealth of expertise and high-quality cider to the festival. We have worked diligently as an association and our members are proud to play a role in making this festival happen.”
