Back to school Monday for students in several South Carolina school districts.  Lancaster County goes back and so does Rock Hill and Fort Mill.  South Carolina students in some districts return to school this week with changes.

The district in Rock Hill is working to make sure every child has access to free meals while at school.  This according to Channel 9. District leaders far and wide know that when a child is hungry they aren't able to focus on learning.  The school board has approved something that will change that. The pilot program allows all students in the district to have a free meal for both breakfast and lunch. Students will not have to fill anything special out in order to qualify for the program.

Another huge change in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Students will no longer be able to use cell phones during school hours.  It is all part of the plan to help students stay more focused this year. Some parents say they never had phones in school and kids don't need them either. While other parents are voicing safety concerns.  District leaders say this will cut back on distractions and possibly bullying.

Some South Carolina teachers are happy about a new law.  There is a new parental leave law.  It will allow teachers and other members of staff to take up to six week when a new child arrives in the family. Governor Henry McMaster was in Rock Hill last week for a ceremonial signing of that new parental leave law.  South Carolina students and teachers are returning to school with some changes.  To learn more get details from Channel 9 right here.
