South Carolina Woman Gets $200,000 Lottery Suprise On Vacation

Look, I love EVERY lottery winning story.  That being said, there are some I enjoy more than others.  This one, may be my favorite in some time for a number of reasons.  A woman from the upstate of South Carolina won $200,000 playing Powerball.  That’s the story’s baseline.

The first thing I love about this woman winning is that in South Carolina, you have the option to remain anonymous with a lottery windfall.  No where can you find her name.  Beautiful.  The way I look at it, the less people that know, the less people can hit you up for a loan.

Number two, I love that it’s just a “normal” win.  Okay, let me explain that statement.  Most all of us play the lottery in some shape or form at some time.  NONE of us ever win “the big prize.”  And I’ve always thought to aspire to that is a little greedy.  I’m more than happy with a couple of hundred grand.  It’s not retirement money, but it’s certainly life changing.  Even after taxes.  A whole lot of ends that aren’t meeting, can be met.

And finally, I love that the win sort of came out of the clouds.  You see, the lady was on vacation.  She had bought the ticket and then, I guess sort of forgot about it (it happens, life is busy).  Her daughter saw the ticket and decided to check the numbers.  Then came a question that would be a dream.  WSPA reports the daughter piped up with, “What do you win if you match four numbers and the Powerball number?”

A family celebration dinner followed.  Oh, and just case you were wondering, or forgot, the odds of matching four numbers and the Powerball are 1 in 913,129.  So, congrats to this wonderfully anonymous woman of South Carolina’s upstate who beat the odds to the tune of $200,000 in surprise vacation lottery winnings.
