South Carolina Based Bagel Sandwich Shop Opens Second North Carolina Location
I fully believe in the theory behind a popular TV chef’s opinion of “no carb left behind.” However, its’ all in moderation in living a healthier lifestyle. But, sometimes, a carb splurge is worth it. And, this might just be one of those cases. According to The Charlotte Observer, Sully’s Steamers, based out of South Carolina just opened a second North Carolina location. And, it’s on Jetton St. Davidson at Lake Norman. The other North Carolina location is in Brevard.
So, it caught my attention. And, owner Andrew Payne said, “All the sandwiches are made in-house and steamed for about 4 minutes total, so everything comes out hot and gooey.” Plus, the bagels come in from New York. And, the article points out they’ll be serving all day breakfast on a number of bagels and lunch as well in the beginning. But, soon they’ll offer dinner, too.
And, in looking at Sully’s Steamers’ menu, their offerings are not only delicious-sounding, but also creative. Also, they have categories labeled “Legendary,” “Classics,” and “Healthy(ish).” So, my favorite movie family is The Griswold family from “Vacation” and “Christmas Vacation.” And, Sully’s Steamers menu plays off the popular movie family with “The Griswold.” It’s a sandwich with turkey, bacon, provolone, pepper jack, bbq and Parm-peppercorn sauce. And, they point out that when you add chips it transforms into “Cousin Eddie.” Of course, you gotta love a place that crunchifies a sandwich and names it after the lovable slob played by Randy Quaid.
And, there’s something called “Hello Newman.” I’m assuming that’s a nod to “Seinfeld.” So, that sandwich features pastrami, bacon, horseradish, onions, muenster, sprouts, tomato and mayo. Sounds delish. Plus, who doesn’t love “Newman?!” Well, if that doesn’t make you feel at home I don’t know what would.
According to their website, that’s the vibe they want. It’s authentic, at home among friends and without judgment. And, they point out that the founder of Sully’s Steamers is not a chef or a food critic. After all, he’s just a “regular Joe” who rolls up his sleeves to get the job done.
