This North Carolina City Now Ticketing For Often Overlooked Crime
There are many simple offenses that police overlook. There may be laws against it. but they are not usually enforced. This North Carolina city is now ticketing for this often-overlooked crime.
According to WFAE, the city of Davidson, North Carolina will start issuing tickets to people who jaywalk. The fine will be 30 bucks. That means you better cross the road where you are supposed to. No deciding to just cross the street anywhere.
Davidson is starting to enforce this law because they are concerned for residents’ own safety. Last year three pedestrians were killed by drivers in Davidson. The city also says it has upgraded many crosswalks. They have added lots of new crosswalk lights and signs.
Town Manager Jamie Justice said in a statement, “We want everyone to be safe. There is so much activity in these pedestrian safety zones, we ask that everyone use the approved crosswalks to avoid any more pedestrian injuries or fatalities.”
The police will start by focusing on three areas of town. Main Street between Griffith Street and Eugenia Street and Jetton Street from Milkbread to Harris Teeter.
True Crime Stories Out Of North & South Carolina
People are fascinated by true crime. There are countless podcasts, articles, documentaries, and even TikTok videos on the subject. Perhaps it’s the mystery or the relatability to the victims. But whatever it is it is undeniable the prevalence it has in today’s society. And while we (at least I), would like to think these things only happen far away, that’s just not true. In fact, there are multiple instances of true crime stories from North and South Carolina.
Below you will find just a small subset of some of the most famous cases in the Carolinas. Some are extremely recent, others from years ago. Some have been resolved others still have us asking questions. You can find a wealth of information involving these cases online and I’ve referenced documentaries you can watch to learn more as well. As someone who isn’t close to obsessed with the genre, I still went deep down the rabbit hole with some of these cases.
Know of some we missed? Let us know on social media and maybe we will do part two of true crime cases from North and South Carolina.
