North Carolina’s Largest Automobile Swap Meet Opens Today
North Carolina’s largest automobile swap meet opens today at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
This fall’s AutoFair features a water-skiing squirrel, a collection of cars you’ve seen in the movies, and a 70th anniversary celebration of the Chevrolet Corvette. And save some time to peruse the Best of the Best custom show car collection in the Showcase Pavilion.
It’s hard to prepare a first-timer for the size and scope of AutoFair. The three-day event utilizes the entire 1.5-mile superspeedway and draws visitors from nearly every state. Looking for a rare part for your project car? Chances are good you’ll find it at AutoFair. It is the largest automobile swap meet in the state.
I’m heading out with some friends later today and we will definitely be checking out the movie cars. Leading the silver-screen celebration will be a Rolls Royce Silver Cloud III (one of only 50 built-in 1964) that was featured in the 1981 Burt Reynolds’ action-comedy Cannonball Run. Also on display, a 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429, one of the “surviving” stunt cars from the 2017 movie John Wick Chapter Two.
Autofair runs through Saturday, 9 a.m-6 p.m. Adult single-day tickets are $10 today (Thursday) and $15 Friday and Saturday. Three-day passes are $30 for adults. Children 12 and under admitted free with an adult. Tickets are available online at CharlotteMotorSpeedway.com or at the gate.
