If you tell me that a fight broke out and was filmed at Pineville's Carolina Place Mall, I'm not surprised.  There's a viral beatdown that's gone viral from Southpark?  I'm shrugging my shoulders.  However, you tell me that a vicious fight broke out and was recorded at Blakeney Town Center?  You've got to be kidding me.

This area of Charlotte, the intersection of Ardrey Kell and Rea Road, is one populated by persons of middle to upper middle class socioeconomic status.  If there was one area, one shopping center that I would have thought would be free of this sort of thing, Blakeney would be it.  I was wrong.

On Wednesday night, a massive fight involving twenty teenagers broke out and was recorded at Blakeney Town Center.  One person senselessly beaten down.  The woman who witnessed and recorded the incident spoke to WCNC"It was really brutal, it was really intense.  I intervened, but it didn’t matter, they kept punching until they were done. My first reaction, I just started beeping really loud, I called the cops and rolled my window down to yell. I yelled 'I’m on the phone with the cops', I’m beeping.”

Like me, the woman was surprised that this sort of thing occurred at Blakeney.  In fact, she says she moved to the area because she felt it was a safer part of Charlotte.  However, once she posted the video to social media, she was stunned to read comments that this sort of thing is not new to the area.

I drive by Blakeney Town Center at least 2-3 times a week.  It's an area of shopping and restaurants that courts and is heavily populated with families and family activities.  It's sad that now I and everyone else there will now feel they need to have their head on a swivel.

And one North Carolina town made the top 10 best small towns for the shopping list! I've never been to this mountain town, so a visit may be in order. Summer is the perfect time to travel and enjoy the mainly open air shopping districts on this list. Shopping and historic towns are some of my favorite things.
