It's a nothing short of an icon.  And the name will be changing once again.  Oscar Mayer is changing the name of their hot dog vehicle.

To be honest with you I never even knew they changed it to the "Frankmobile".  Apparently they did that four months ago.  Well now they say they will change the name back to the "Wienermobile".  The other name just didn't have the same ring to it.

It seem like the iconic hot dog vehicle has been around for a long time.  It has. According to Alot.com the idea was conceived in 1936 to promote the company's hot dogs.  According to the website, Carl G Mayer had this custom vehicle built in the shape of a hot dog to promote their product in the Chicago area.  Back then it looked more like a tank than a car.

Here is another fun fact according to the website, the first Wienermobile was scrapped for metal back in the 40s due to World War Two.  To learn more facts about one of America's most long lasting promotional tools, get details right here.

Top 10 Places For Best Hot Dogs In Charlotte

Today is National Hot Dog Day! The hot dog is considered by many the classic, All-American meal.

And the ways to make a hot dog vary. For example, some like me,  prefer hot dogs grilled or toasted over a fire. They can be boiled, pan-fried, and even cooked in a rotisserie. The key to a great hot dog, of course, is the toppings. How do you like yours served?  Less is more for me. I like to keep it basic, ketchup, mustard, chili, and cole slaw. But I've seen some top hot dogs with relish, onions, mayonnaise, cheese, bacon, chili, and sauerkraut.

Here are some interesting facts about America's summertime favorite food from National Day Calendar.
