I remember as a boy there were certain activities that were synonymous with birthday parties.  Sometimes, you got to take your friends to a place where you could play putt-putt golf, ride go carts, play arcade games, etc. (think Frankie's in Huntersville).  Every now and again, you'd get invited to go with birthday boy/girl and a few other friends to go to the movies.  And one of the most popular birthday party activities was to go to McDonald's.

I haven't seen this done in a long time, but I have vivid memories of this.  The party package included a special section roped off in the back of Mickey Ds.  There were special McDonald's birthday tablecloths, napkins, decorations, the whole nine yards.  Each child got a hamburger or cheeseburger, fries, and an orange drink.  Oh, the star?  McDonald's had special birthday cakes served up with ice cream for dessert.  Y'all I'm not lying.  This was a big deal and everyone who attended was jacked!

This memory came to the forefront today when I read of a French couple who have taken a McDonald's birthday celebration to the next level.  These two love birds recently tied the knot and had planned a sit-down meal for their reception.  Filet mignon?  Pasta?  Rack of lamb?  What are you thinking?  You want to excite people at a French wedding reception, the only way to go is to serve up McDonald's.  Nope, not kidding.

And check out this video on TikTok.  Sure, some people think the couple went cheap.  Others praised their frugality.  I judge by just one thing.  Check out how absolutely delighted all the guests seem to be at the notion of a table full of McDonald's at their disposal?

I wonder if French McDonald's offer a wedding cake in the deal package.
